We're bursting with pride to announce that our exceptional Vice President, Adrienne Cochrane, has been selected for the prestigious AFL Victoria 2025 Lead Your Way Program!
This outstanding achievement places Adrienne among an elite group of community football leaders, as one of only two representatives from the SMJFL invited to participate this year.
The selection process was incredibly competitive, with over 150 high-quality applications received from across Victoria, resulting in just 61 community football club leaders being offered places.
Adrienne's selection speaks volumes about her dedication, leadership qualities, and the positive impact she continues to make at our club.

A Program Fostering Leadership Excellence
The Lead Your Way Program is specifically designed to support and develop women and gender-diverse leaders in community football. It provides valuable education and development opportunities for those serving at club committee, board, or executive level.
The program aims to enhance participants' skills, confidence, and knowledge while opening doors for continued progression in leadership positions.
This year's cohort represents impressive diversity, with participants from every corner of Victoria. There's been a significant increase in Vice Presidents participating – jumping from just one in 2024 to fifteen this year, with Adrienne proudly representing the Hawks among them!
What's in Store for Our Vice President
Adrienne's journey with the program officially begins on March 8th with the LYW25 launch and networking event, where she'll meet fellow participants and alumni from the inaugural 2024 program. Throughout the year, she'll engage in various education sessions and events designed to strengthen leadership capabilities.
A highlight of the program will be the mid-year LYW Development Conference – a full day dedicated to education and leadership development. Adrienne will also join the growing network of Lead Your Way alumni, connecting with leaders from across Victorian community football.
Benefits Beyond Individual Development
What makes this opportunity even more exciting is how it will benefit our entire Hawks community.
Participants bring valuable resources and insights back to their clubs, improving experiences for players, coaches, and volunteers. Adrienne's participation means our club will directly benefit from cutting-edge leadership practices and community football innovations.
Join Us in Congratulating Adrienne!
This recognition is a testament to Adrienne's commitment to our club and to developing community football. Her selection highlights not just her individual excellence, but also reflects the quality of leadership we're fortunate to have at the Waverley Park Hawks.
Please join us in congratulating Adrienne on this fantastic achievement! We know she'll represent our club with distinction and return with valuable insights to help us continue growing as a community-focused club.
We look forward to sharing updates throughout the year as Adrienne progresses through this exciting program. Go Hawks!
