I would like to
extend a very warm welcome to all players and families for season 2008. It is
very pleasing to report that we have achieved strong registrations in all teams
and we will be fielding sides in all grades from Under 9’s to Colts in both the
WJFA and Yarra Leagues. The only exception to this is that we were unable to
gain enough registrations for our Under 13 team and unfortunately we will not
be fielding a side in this age group in 2008. New registrations have been
extremely strong in our younger age groups of Under 9’s, 10’s and 11’s which
guarantees our club a strong future. We welcome all our new players and their
families to our club and hope that your association with us is a long and
enjoyable one.
I would like to particularly
recognize the efforts of our committee, coaches and team managers who have
worked hard during the summer months and pre- season so that all is in
readiness for the start to the season.
Well done and thank
you.

SUNDAYS
5.30pm – 7.30PM
PRESENTATIONS
TO START AT 6.00PM
We encourage all
players and their families to come along to our Sunday After Match for a few
drinks and a bite to eat while the coaches give a report of the day’s play and
present the players with their Coaches Award’s. This is a fantastic opportunity
to meet other people from the Waverley Park Hawks community. We are going to
make a concerted effort to commence our after match reports at 6.00pm to allow those
with young families to get home a little earlier, so we ask that you arrive
between 5.30pm and 6.00pm which will give everyone the opportunity to purchase
food and drink before we commence presentations. We are also implementing a
team roster system where a nominated team will assist with the After Match for
that week. The roster for April/May is as follows:

The concept of the
Quality Club program is to provide an opportunity for all community football

- Minimising many risks associated with running a
sporting club.
- Providing an
environment that will be attractive to sponsors and help our club promote
itself amongst the community and particular to the local council.
- Providing and
atmosphere that will help to attract new participants, officials and members
and retain those we already have.
- Creating a best
practice guide for our Committee and all future committees.
- Participating in a
sport that can continue to promote itself as a leading sport where quality is
valued highly.

Home
Ground Trainer
We once again have
been able to secure the services of Darren Blanchfield to act as our Home Game
Trainer for 2008. Darren has over 20 years experience working with football
clubs in the position of Head Trainer. He also is a trained Ambulance Paramedic
and he will attend all home games that don’t clash with his work roster. This
does not replace the Level One
Accredited Trainers that each team currently has, but is an added extra
that the club provides to try and offer the safest playing conditions possible
for your children. We are proud to say that we are the only club that offers
this facility in our league.

club volunteers to gain further knowledge of how to deal with injuries that
occur on the footy field.

We thank Andrew and
his team for sharing their expertise with us.
Gold
Level Insurance
The committee has maintained
its Gold Level Insurance for the 2008 season. This is a significant increase in
our insurance coverage and represents our commitment to provide the safest
playing conditions affordable. It must be stressed that this is not a blanket
cover and we strongly encourage all families especially those boys in the
senior teams who may be working to consider taking out private insurance cover.
